Suitable for Framing

If its one thing we at SMFML know, its art. Believe me - whether it be the all-time classics, like the Mona Lisa, or 20th century creations like MC Escher, we have seem them all in poster form on our friends dorm walls and have appreciated them regardless of incandescent bulb or black light.

But if its one thing we can truly appreciate, it is He Who Paints Light. Yes I'm referring to the one and only Thomas Kinkade. I'm talking about the man who brings a cabin in the woods newfound beauty, the man who's art is probably resting in your grandma/aunt/mom's house RIGHT NOW...why, just consider his own take on one of his finest creations, 'Mountain Paradise' -

"A mountain stream cascades over an array of ancient stones, creating myriad waterfalls that sing their praise of the Lord in the voices of water. Perhaps the strumming of bluegrass music might add to the chorus as evening lingers - isn't that a guitar and fiddle resting in the shadows of the cabin porch?"

The pulse quickens, doesn't it? The heart races at the mental imagery. Yet this not even close to his best work yet. This of course is his piece celebrating the 50th Running of the Daytona 500!

I almost thought you couldn't capture this much action in a painting. Why, its almost Dali-esque in its subtlety, no? He also gets points for featuring the dorks with headphone radios as prominently as the fireworks & jets.

UPDATE:
Did you know there's a Kincade-painting-inspired movie? Well, there is. And its as awesome as you'd think. To make the movie look as crappy as the original painting, Kincade made a list of 16 items for the director to consider in the movie. My favorite?

6) Hidden details whenever possible, References to my children (from youngest to oldest as follows): Evie, Winsor, Chandler and Merritt. References to my anniversary date, the number 52, the number 82, and the number 5282 (for fun, notice how many times this appears in my major published works). Hidden N's throughout -- preferably thirty N's, commemorating one N for each year since the events happened.

I can't even describe the level of horror I'm experiencing knowing that a movie is going to be made about this guy - I'm getting douche-bumps just thinking of it.
